Back in August 2009 we started 4tronix as a little sideline, using our extensive contacts in the Far East to source electronic home security products. This included video door intercoms for homes, multi-way video intercoms for flats and offices, electric door locks of all types, etc.
After a year or so, we started selling electronics for hobbyists/makers. This was primarily Arduino based products and we became official resellers for Arduino (and eventually Adafruit, DFRobot, et al)
In May 2012 we came out with our first manufactured 4tronix product, the Initio 4WD robot. This had been designed originally for Arduino Uno or Mega2560, but was rapidly modified to accept the new Raspberry Pi. This then spawned various robo controllers for the Pi, including the PiRoCon and the like. Initio is still selling, almost unchanged!
From 2015, 4tronix became a full-time enterprise and many more products were designed. About 60% of designs made it into production.
4tronix has always been, and will always be, a small family business. This way, we are able to change direction quickly, provide personal service when necessary and react to new products - look how quickly we had robots available for Raspberry Pi and Microbit.
