Basic Electronic Eyepiece Camera for Telescope

Want to start in astrophotography but not sure if you really want to spend the money to get a proper astrophotography camera?

This basic camera is essentially a webcam without a lens (No lens means it MUST be connected to a telescope to focus), but with a 1.25" nosepiece so that it can be inserted into the eyepiece holder of your telescope.

Connect to a laptop and use the capture software to take a video or still image. We recommend using SharpCap capture software.

• 8-bits per colour (Red, Green, Blue)
• Sensor size 4.86 mm x 3.64 mm
• Frame rate: 15 fps at 640x480, 30 fps at 320x240
• Auto-exposure/gain*

* The automatic exposure provided on the chip means that for small targets, such as Mars in a black sky, it will over expose the target in its attempt to level up the brightness across the image.

The images of the Moon were taken using this camera attached to the eyepiece holder of an 8" Newtonian telescope. For each image, a 30 second video was captured in SharpCap, stacked and sharpened in Registax, then a little post-processing in Affinity Photo.

NB. This is not a webcam. It has no lens and requires connecting correctly to a telescope in order to focus
